Meet Gus, aka Chance! This handsome 5-year-old boy came to the shelter extremely emaciated. Chance spent a few months in foster, healing and truly thriving. Now he’s back at the shelter and looking for his forever home.

Here’s what his foster shared about him:

Gus (Chance) is a very happy, goofy boy with a big heart! He’s just as content cuddling on the couch as he is heading out for a walk. He walks very well on a leash. He loves being close to his people—if he can see or hear you, he wants to be with you. If he can’t, he may bark to let you know he’s looking for you. He is housebroken and will whine at the door when he needs to go outside. Chance is incredibly loyal and eager to please. He sleeps well in a crate, or in bed if you allow, and will often put himself to bed when he’s ready.

Chance has done great meeting new dogs. He needs a home without smaller animals, as he wants to chase them—so cats likely wouldn’t be a good fit. Because he can get excitable, older children would be best. He is very well-mannered but will benefit from continued training to help him be his best self. If you can give Chance the loving home he’s waiting for, come meet him!

Meet Casey! This beautiful 1½-year-old girl is looking for a very special home. Casey had to be trapped and rescued after her owner left her running to fend for herself. She arrived at the shelter very skinny, infested with fleas and ticks, and absolutely terrified. Gaining her trust and helping her feel safe has been a slow process. Now, we feel it’s time to let her find a loving home where she can continue to heal and recover from the neglect she experienced.

Casey is dog friendly. She seems to be afraid of cats. Very young children may be too scary for her right now, but older kids who can understand her needs would be okay. Because of everything Casey has been through, she is currently a flight risk and should be handled accordingly. She should never be left unattended in a yard. She should even be leash walked in the yard at first while she continues to learn that she is finally safe.

Casey may need a little extra patience, but this lady has so much potential. With the love, care, and security she deserves, she will open up and become a wonderful addition to her family.

OVER 9 MONTHS IN THE SHELTER!

Meet Maggie! This sweet 5-year-old girl has been patiently waiting at the shelter for months. After arriving with a bite of unknown origin, Maggie had to complete a quarantine period. Now she’s ready to find a family of her own! Maggie is an enthusiastic girl who can pull a bit on leash at first, but responds well to correction after she settles. She may take treats a little rough in her excitement, but with a reminder, she takes them like a lady. She loves balls and toys! While she prefers not to give them back, she thinks it’s the best game if you chase her or offer a trade to get them.

Maggie has a very sweet nature, and we expect she’ll do great with kids. She may just accidentally bump into them a few times. We’re unsure how she’ll be with other animals. Since she likely experienced a dog bite, she may not do well with other dogs, but we can try a meet and greet if you have one. Maggie is ready to leave her long shelter stay behind and start her next chapter in a forever home!
